1. Richard Vint (Fitness First Fleet)

The current UK No 1 Gym Athlete has performed in front of jaw dropping fellow gym athletes for the past two years. In the shadow of the the fastest times at events when first started competing Rich a now consistent winner and has proved to the fitness industry that he is the benchmark gym athlete for all others to try and beat.

Recent events have seen Richard dominate and bring to the table a debate for international events. Is he the best in the world?

2. Andy Lett (Fitness First Rochdale)

For those of you know Andy from your own gym or as a person you are probably nodding your head at this choice and giving it the big thumbs up. Andy Lett represents what is good about gym training, gifted in all aspects of fitness and the perfect role model for any one wanting to know about how to be and maintain superb fitness levels.

From the Manchester school of Gym X Training - Andy Lett will always be probably the best ambassador for gym fitness, that Fitness First have never appreciated.

3. Chris Lord (Royal Marines)

When Chris Lord first started competing in Gym X Training, there were many who thought that this could be the next best Gym Athlete in the world today. Winner of the The Fittest Royal Marine X Training Challenge two years running , Chris certainly lived up to many expectations winning outright many events. Operational roles and active duty have seen Chris no longer compete, but without doubt worthy of top three all time  best Gym Athletes.

4. Kirk Gibbons (Derby University)

Probably the greatest gesture ever seen in Gym X Training, was Kirk handing over his winners trophy to a young performer and that Hampshire one year. A gifted boxer and personal trainer, with many world class clients in sports to his name , Kirk is the perfect example of what a personal trainer should be aiming for to be considered a world class act. In a world where the personal trainer is the one setting out to inspire , motivate and set goals for achievement anybody fortunate enough to have Kirk - will certainly succeed in fitness.

5. Jason King (David Lloyd Basildon)

Jason King, will argue that Nik Kandola should be given this place and I suspect Nik would argue Jason is deserving, but what can be said is that Jason and Nik feed off one another performance wise and achieve their inspirational fitness by being the perfect training partners and having a group of friends at David lloyd Basildon that push each other through ground breaking boundaries of fitness.

6. Will Whitmore (DBMax)

Will Whitmore is really Mr X Training. The events he put on under the DB max flag in Dubai (Best of the Best) were the best events to date. The venue, which was set up in an exclusive shopping centre in Dubai, had all the panache of a world class event, with the added competitors from Iceland, the UK and Dubai, taking part. Darren Robson and Michelle Parsons (The winner of the female No 1 Gym Athlete, if there was to be one) made appearances. DB Max had secured its place promoting the best field, event, location, turn out, party and overall best ever Gym X Training event to date.

7. Micky White (Micky's Fitness Australia)

It could be argued it takes a very sick mind to think of a Gym X Training Challenge that involves 60 shoulder press and 60 Bench press in its disciplines - the maximum had until that stage always been 40, but this was new and absolutely one of the hardest tests of lactic tolerance in the Gorton Grueller, that any Gym Athlete can experience and Micky created it! Micky moved on to Australia and has opened up his own gym and has already got his members into Gym X Training. As the boss of his own gym, he sets the rules - and rule number 1 is - expect results. Great to have Micky back on the scene.

8. Sam Orgee (Unknown Gym)

One of the easiest choices to include, but one of the hardest to place, 8th does not justify, just what Sam level of performance was at, when at his peak. The classic race against Mr HD at the Ironman was probably one of the best races ever seen at a X Training event. Watching the crowd on that day at that race was a indication of a sure fire hit for the sport to grow. And it was Sam , the rising star of Gym X training that was making the headlines at events. Passionate and gifted rugby player too. Sam was missed, when he moved onto other challenging fitness projects after his last event at Fitness Extreme 2008.

9. Ben Stroud (Private Gym)

Ben is Mr Bench and Shoulder! This is his stengths and Gorton still holds his record. The reason Ben makes top ten is you knew where you stood with him, outspoken and gifted in terms of overall fitness, but also somebody who in the background supported the growth of Gym X Training in other camps and in other formats. Close friends with Danny Watson, another gifted and promising Gym Athlete, both now find their challenges in Cross Fit and I know, what is Cross Fit's gain is Gym X Training loss.

10 Craig Horsfield (Fitness First Gorton)

The hardest spot to fill ! So many names are worthy of this slot, but sadly only one can earn the title. It is Craigs persistance in performing at so many events and also marshalling, judging, time keeping and helping run the events that gets him here, plus the fact that he is an accomplished Gym Athlete with many top three finishes in the events he has entered. Craig wrestles with the need to perform, and also encourage others at the same time and inspire others with his many worthy charity events and money raised. A fantastic ambassador for the sport.
