What are you doing now in terms of training?
I am not doing anything specific in the gym at the moment , and go there maybe 4x per week and just do what i feel like with no particular structure. If i stay injury free i hope to compete in the Gorton comp in May.

Many have taken up triathlon or Cross FIT – do you miss the one on one racing that made Gym XTC unique?
I prefer indoor racing in the gym as it suits my body type. I fancied doing a triathlon a few years ago so did an iron man distance one in Zurich . Although i enjoyed training for it and also the event on the day i did not feel it was something i wanted to pursue further since i much prefer more a more varied training regime , with weights and gym tests, as i think it gives more balance and prevents you getting stale with your training. In addition to be really good at it i feel i would have had to loose to much weight , many of them were very thin guys which i feel you need to be to compete at the highest level in triathlon.

| Performance related results in gym fitness are more common place now – the trends are indicating a turn towards performance rather then image – would you agree? |
I think image is what the majority of people go to the gym for , to get in shape for a holiday etc.I don't think many people actually go to a gym for performance , for example to reduce their resting heart rate or improve their 5km time . |

Do you think a gym really cares about your titles that may have won?
I don't really mention the competitions i compete in at all.At Fitness First in both Preston and Rochdale there is such a huge turnover of staff/management they have no idea of anything that was achieved at the gym 3 months ago never mind a few years! Most of them are more interested in promoting Maximuscle and Lucozade products of which 99% of the members don't train hard enough to justify using them. Its just a money making club chain in my opinion.

Would you like to see Physically Impaired Gym X Training Challenges (Amputees etc)and School Gym Challenges?
Yes i would like to see all sorts of competitions , age , disability etc

Have any of you attended a Zumba class – would you?
I doubt any seriously fit people attend these classes even though most of the posters show it full of young slim trendy types. I have never attended any class except one spinning class about 5 years ago.
Why do you think the industry refuses to embrace X Training?
It doesn't make them money, most people are naturally lazy and like to stay in their comfort zone, even at the gym. Most of the classes that are taken are based around getting your heart rate up a bit and a little bit of a sweat on eg. zumba, boxfit etc but nothing too extreme so as not to put people off.
