Will Whitmore Date Added: 28-Jul-06
Gym: Weight:
Competing Level: Premier Fastest Challenge Time (mm:ss): Unknown
Region: Wiltshire Country: UK
Year Of Birth:

Will Whitmore is probably one of the only reasons that X Training is still around today, with the outstanding DB max website. His commitment to the sport is seen in many ways - the victories, the events he orgainses and the time he has for anybody who is thinking of taking up the sport. Any advice given from Will is good advice. WGC realises that Will is crucial to the development of X Training and with his services for on line coaching now being well sort after by individuals, I think the prospect of gym's and the senior management contacting Will for advice and developing X Training within their gym is really" only a matter of time"

On X-Training...

How long have you been doing X-Training?
Well after the Team event at Ultrafit in1999 I did the Tropicana event in 2000. Had a neck and neck race all the way. A horrible, painful, experience that left me dying on the floor – but I guess I was hooked.

Will . Dubai 2006

What excites you about the sport?

The race to be the fittest.

Do you teach X-Training to your clients?

Have done when worked in gyms.

What are their views on Cross Training?

Yeah it usually gives them new focus in their training.

Who has been your biggest influence in X-Training?

Well Cass got me into it so he’s up there. Trained a lot with my brother Ceri in the early days so he was an influence. Trained with Adam a fair bit so he’s up there.Will. Hampshire 2006 But back in 2000, for newcomers to the sport, Hywel was a colossus and we marvelled at him. I was determined to emulate him and nothing could deflect me from that mission. So that’s part Hywel, part me I guess.

What is your ambition in X-Training?

Win a car.

On Sport...

Did you excel at sport at school and if yes what sport?

Not at all. Had a go at most things but just played footy with my mates mostly.

How often do you train?

Depends. When I’m in training, most days, but I have a couple of months a year where I don’t do much and drink beer.

Do you compete in any other sport?

Bit of rowathlon and triathlon.

Have you competed in any other sport in the past?

Bit of rugby and footy. Chess when I was a kid.

Why do you find X-Training so exciting?

Anyone can take part but not everyone can win. A great goal to train for. Head to head racing which can be awesome if it’s close. Let’s me eat like a pig. Will on the rower

What is your favourite exercise?

I’m getting into biking this year. In X-Training I love the bench press these days. If I packed in CV exercise I’d train to do a max-rep bench press.

What is your favourite food for training?

Oats.

More On Sport...

Would you ever compete in another sport?

Anything I was good enough to. Dreamed of scoring the winner for England like most people do.

How often do you rest?

Not enough.

Do you suffer from many injuries?

Not really with XT but have had loads from other sports. Must be the only bloke who’s dislocated his knee sparring. I never even had a fight.

Will jumping the highest bungee in the worldHave you ever parachuted (sky dived  tandem or solo) out of a plane. Would you?

No but I did the world’s highest bungee jump in South Africa. They’re still trying to get the stains off the jump platform.

What is the one sport you have never taken part in but would love to have excelled in?

Being a Ninja.

Did you ever see the footie match in the Film Kes?

Yeah. Never a goal. It was wingball.

Marylyn Monroe, Bo Derek, Brigit Bardot to a poolside BBQ.

Who is your comedy hero?

Not really got a hero but used to love Rick Mayal and the Young Ones. More recently the Fast Show and the Office were the best shows in the world.

Tough one. The Trainspotting book was superb but when I was a kid I used to read a book every week.

       Will.
