Introduction by WGC

Chris Lord turned up for his time trial at ROKO in Gillingham Kent after travelling four hours in the snow from Devon. Quiet and unasuming he quickly fell into his comfort zone - the gym and began talking with friends about training. Lordy trains hard and is the real deal. He has just recently started competing in X Training with his first event at 'The Hampshire' and went on to a very respectable 22:35.

Since then Lordy has focused on training harder - knuckling down - and concentrating on improving his times and technique. He trains constantly with Les Barrow another Royal Marine PTI and Danny Watson Army PTI and is good friends with Ben Stroud.

It's early days for Lordy - but judging by his performance at the Time Trials for Gymxtc - it is no doubt that a promising X Training career could follow him and who knows ... maybe the makings of another Hywel Davies could possibly emerge?

Lordy is currently the fastest man on the planet of the worldgymchallenge!

Why do you find the sport so exciting?

I enjoy the sport due to the all round functionality fitness required. And in the very short time I have been doing it, have made many good friends and been introduced to sound people who are superfit and also love the sport.

Do you teach X - Training to any of the recruits?

No. We have a set training programme for our recruits. But it has some similar aspects.

Just meeting a lot of superfit guys who are not full of themselves - like blokes liftning weights all day and just want to look good on the piss.

How often do you train?

I train everyday in some aspect, with active recovery day on Sunday. I train with Les Barrow and Danny Watson (who is on the same course as me) which is great due to our similar fitness and also same goals in mind.
