Introduction By WGC

The growth of X Training is mainly down to two reasons.

1. The Events

2. The X Trainers who take part in the events.

WGC.com would jusrt like to introduce some of the most motivated gym people in the country - who compete throughout the year and have stayed loyal to a unique and fantastic sport.

If any gym manager recognises any of the athletes focused on this page - maybe you could ask them about their training regime.

X Training is the sport of Gyms and it's growth is down to these athletes and ones like them.

There are over 6 m members in Gyms today in the UK. Do you want to compete ? Do you want to improve your fitness levels? Do you seek motivation to train at your gym? Or are you satisfied with your training? If not try X Training ! It's growing into a national sport with a infrastructure already in place to make this sport a global challenge.

 Farouk Vawda (Manchester)
Farouk is quite simply one of the nicest guys out there on the circuit today. For such a small frame he carries amazing strength and power. Without doubt the event that takes place - will have Farouk there, such is his commitment.
 Mary Eve Mcnearney (Manchester)
Mary is one of the newbies to the sport and was introduced to it by Aidy Cartwright. As a manager at Rochdale Mary has seen the benefits behind this amazing sport - so much so that I think it is fair to say she is pretty much hooked on it and will be a regular at the Grand Prix events.
 Jenny Davies Hoare
Jenny is a trained nutritionist and has been competing regularly for the last two years. She is quoted as being inspired by those athletes who can still run at 15kph + on inclines having completed the previous 9 or so disciplines - tell you the truth - so am I!
 Andy Lett  (Manchester)
Andy is one of the longest competing X Trainers in the country and for many years trained with Micky White (the founder of the Gorton Grueller) A motivated an inspirational figure in any gym and amazing athlete.
 Russell Stenning  (Kent)
Rusell competes at the Intermediate level and has always gained respect of competitors alike because he competes and then judges after . Always focused and training out of Calso gym in Kent - his says fitness is important to him and X Training is the best way he knows on how to improve it.
 Simon Bellinger  (Bedfordshire)
Another long time committed X Trainer, Simon is part of the Boxfit crew who saw the growth of X Training in Luton through Dave Coard and Mark Drury evolve to what it is today.  Simon's massive cardio base and incredible strength and power is apparent in his physique - which is no doubt the result of years of dedicated training.
 Jim Wong (Merseyside)
Jim has been doing X Training events since the early days in the 90's when the sport first came on to the scene. Many events later Jim continues to dazzle those around him with his ability to endure pain and commit to the training regime that X training requires. On top of all that - a top bloke too!
 Aidy Cartwright  (Manchester)
Aidy is responsible for the incredible build up of X Training at Rochdale Fitness First. His drive and passion for the sport is limitless and at every opportunity Aidy presents the chance to move X Training on in the right direction. I believe another X Training event is going to be held at Rochdale, such have they embraced the sport. Aidy is an incredible Personal Trainer and a real asset to the sport.
 Simon Cox (Spain)
Simon commutes somewhat to enter events! A quick blast on the plane from Spain and then wherever there is an event on, simon is nearly always there. Another veteran and man of great strength and endurance and somone who represents the sport for all the right reasons - motivation, and dedication to training.
 Phil Talbot  (Wales)
Phil has been competing for some time now. He has a passion for his own personal fitness and trains as hard as he can to improve. Always at an event where the challenge is to be as best as you can on the day - and Phil definitely always gives a 100% performance.

 Jamie Fraser  (Manchester)
Jamie is a local X Trainer - who trains out of Fitness First Rochdale. Fairly new to the sport,he trains with the likes of Aidy Cartwright and Andy Lett and has not reached his peak fitness yet - when he does Jamie will definitely be one to watch out for.
 Amber Anderson (Essex)
Amber is a total enthusiast to X Training - married to Nelson Anderson another X Trainer, Amber trains to compete and finish the race purely as motivation to train in a gym. She has come on leaps and bounds since she first started and has great support from other X Trainers at her gym.
 Trudi Hawksworth (Derby)
Trudi is the aunt of Sam Saunt and is one of the reasons Sam entered the sport - married to Lance another X Trainer (tri athlete) she has for many years been competing at senior level and often finishing top 3.
 Sue Regan Watts  (Manchester)
Sue is married to Steve and together they have run the Dragons Gauntlet for many years. Great athletes and between them one of the reasons X Training is still going strong today.
 Steve Dowse (Bedfordshire)
All round nice guy Steve is also a Personal Trainer. His ability to inspire others whilst achieving great results in the events he has entered puts Steve up with there with being one of the top X Trainers in the country right now.
 Daniel Watson
Danny's career is on track to be unique in this field. He enters events when he can and is pushing his own personal fitness levels further and further and getting results each time.
 Anne Quinan  (Manchester)
Anne is new to the sport. She recently qualified as Gym Instructor - Personal Trainer gaining qualification with GB Fitness. Many of the instructors at Rochdale are seeing the benefits behind X Training and Anne is seeing what its like to develop the passion for a sport she is new to. Oh and by the way - don't mess with her - she is a former Thai Kick Boxing World Champion!
 Nelson Anderson (Essex)
Nelson trains at David Lloyd in Essex with top X Trainers, Nik Kandola and Jason King. His training features heavily in his lifestyle and he and his wife both train hard for the events they take part in. Always motivated and always gives 100%
 Gary Nicholls  (Birmingham)
Gary is what you may call unique. He is in the veterans category and his timings reflect that of his Open counter parts. You will not hear a bad word about Gary by anybody and he has earnt the respect of X Trainers across the board by his incredible constant victories in his category.
 Andy Brown  (Surrey)
Andy is trained by Lloyd Millichap. He has improved greatly in his performances and is fair to say has got the X Training bug. A relative newcomer to the sport Andy shows just how X Training can become part of everyones training at the gym - the only difference is - you actually see physical results and improvements at each event.
