New to Gym X Training Challenges? Date Added: 19th April

When you go to the gym, what do you want to achieve?

A body that looks like Adonis, Brad Pitt , Arnie?

Women, do you want to be toned and elegant?

Or do you just want to be fit?

WGC looks at what some of the new members think about GymXTC ™

There is something quite brilliant about GymXTC™ ! Its all about results in ''Gym-Fitness'
Founder of World Gym Challenge.com Sean Blyth, asks the questions about the IFBB Fitness Weekend Expo and what sort of reaction Gym X Training Challenges get at the gym. Some great replies and interesting reading.

How has your training improved since taking up Gym X Training?

My training has improved towards gym x training and I have identified weaknesses I never knew I had but i have previously been better at individual events so it's been good to mix it up a bit now.

 Hitting the 40 x 40's
Does anybody else do Gym X Training at your gym?
Not at all really, just me and my 2 training partners Goodie and Simon.
What is the reaction of personal trainers to what you do ?

As there is only 1event in Scotland and that wasn't even advertised last year I doubt they have even heard of gym x-training.

 How has your training improved?

Since taking up the Gym X training challenges I have realized that my previous gym workouts needed more focus and were significantly lacking in cardio.  I have improved my strength training sessions as well.  Overall it was a matter of changing both the way I trained and the training intensity.  I change my routines more often instead of repeating the same daily routines time and time again.  I do more circuit training now and try to alternate cardio and strength days so that the intensity of my workouts can be higher.

What has been the reaction of the personal trainers?

The personal trainers are impressed and like the website

 Will you compete again?
Yes.  the next goal for me is to complete the advanced challenge and reach the silver level.
 Mark Delaney .
What has been your gyms reaction to this event?
They are generally impressed by the type of training I do for x training.
Does anyone else train like you do at the gym?
There are not many who would train like this. I think the reason is because of it's level of difficulty. Just cardio is easy and just bicep curls and ab work is easy but few people are willing to put them together because of it's increased stresses on the body.

Thank you to all the guys who have replied to this questionaire. Some great little bits of info in here and some ideas of where to improve the site and what more has to be done.

Do you like the website?

Yes it has lots of information that's useful to a newcomer like myself.

What do you like most? Or not as the case may be.

I like all the results and splits history. It gives me an idea of what times to train towards. I used to buy athletics weekly just to look at race results even if I already knew my time and position - it's nice to see your name.

What did you think of the day?

The venue was awesome overall. It would have been better to have had more space to run 2 lanes to enable compititors to race as this would have been more interesting for spectators than watching a time trial. Excellent starting point for promoting the sport further and it was clear a lot of work had been put in to make the event happen.

Would you compete online in the monthly gym challenges?

If there was a structure, points or prizes then yes but not as they stand now. I don't like challenges with bikes in them because most gyms have different models and you can't comare them accurately and there aren't enough people doing the challenges to have a leader for each model of bike.

What has been your gyms reaction to this event?

Gyms don't care about this unless they can make money but I don't think we will get them onboard if we attack them we need to work with them but that may not be possible if they can't make money.

Will you compete again?

Yes I've been competing now for 6 months and I'm really enjoying it.

Anything else you would like to add.

As a newcomer it's very hard to understand why so many events are run by so many different people. There seems to be too much politics going on and as a competitor you just want to train and race. It's hard to find out when different events are on and probably impossible if your a newcomer and don't know anybody who competes already.

Love the site.  Easy to use and with the latest news link I can keep up with what's happening in the gym challenge world.

What do you like most? Or not as the case may be.

I like the online challenge postings.  They make a good basis for cross training workouts and provide a way to continually measure your fitness levels as well of course as an interesting challenge to undertake in the gym.

What did you think of the day?
The day was brilliant.  Lots of support and good to see the other gym challenge participants
 Did youl like the venue?

The Venue was good.  Easy to get to and the event was fantastic. It was my first extreme challenge and a great experience.  I really enjoyed all the support from the team

What has been your gym's reaction to this event?

Certainly there has been some interest from the personal trainers in my gym.  I have told them about the competitions and they have been to the website to check out the challenges.  They even ran a similar challenge at my gym.

Does anybody else train the way you do?

I have found that most people at the gym train the way I used to.  I believe it is a matter of habit.  Fortunately there are more circuit classes now as people realize the benefit of overall fitness rather than just being able to bench a lot of weight for 4 or 5 reps

 Do you like the website?
Yes...packed with info
What do you like most? Or not as the case may be.
Sometimes it can be tricky to find what you want. A lot of info, but not all linked into to each other.
 Did you enjoy the day?
Great - plenty of buzz. Lacked the competition of another competitor to race against but made up for it in atmosphere and location
What did you think of the venue?
Good venue. Good facilities. Easily accessible.
 Has your training improved?
More focused. Chasing Vint is proving to be a tough task!
Would you compete in online challenges?
Probably not. I would miss the experience and atmosphere of competing in front of a crowd and against others.
What is the reaction of members and personal trainers to the way you train?
Most are very interested in the style of training and the 'intensity' but few are willing to give up their body building routines. Big biceps and pecs will always outsell strong heart and lungs. Business is business at the end of the day.
 Will you compete again?
Definitely.
