EVENT REPORT
By
Lloyd Millichap

Camberley fitness first saw its first X-training event on Sunday 1st July 2007.
A day remembered not only for the long awaited smoking ban.
X-training is the next big thing in fitness and it’s already arrived here. Just ask the competitors for their views on it.
Beginner - Female
It all started with the female beginners and there was a strong field here as 3 of the competitors have trained at intermediate level. Zoe Bevan kicked it all off as she was required to carry out some handy camera work for the rest of the day. Zoe set the standard showing great power to blitz through the weights and record a very respectable time of 8:45. Just 5 seconds separated the top 3 with Katy England through her consistency in training and a flawless race saw her take top spot in a time of 8:42.
Intermediate – Male
The largest fielded category saw the youngest at 16 years and oldest at 66 years of age.
The youngest competitor and eventual winner the rising star that is Aury Sacre set an incredible time of 12:46 which no one could get anywhere near. Some truly great efforts were witnessed that brought a new meaning to no pain no gain!An impressive time of 13:14 by Lloyd Ives and who could ever forget our own Bob at 66 whom I managed to get him to partake at the last minute of which I’m sure he will thank me for, put himself through what looked like pure hell to me, let alone him braved on through the course and dug in on the treadmill of which many would have given in, to earn Bob a respectable time of 19:03.
Oh... if anyone knows the whereabouts of Bob since the event would they please let me know!
Intermediate – Female
This was the category I was most excited about because I knew it would be close ran and I just couldn’t predict the outcome. The eventual winner Claire Sacre recorded an excellent PB of 15:16. In the end it was about who had trained the hardest and most consistent. That was definitely Claire so a completely well deserved victory was her reward!
Advanced – Male
So to the more experienced x-trainers and worldgymchallenge owner Sean Blyth the most seasoned x –trainer here today
Sadly 2 of the competitors had to drop out of this category due to illness and other commitments. It still saw Sean Blyth produce a PB 20:20 and the impressive Paul Chase cruise to victory even though injured in 18:58.
My performance of the day though went to Andy Brown who broke the 20 minute barrier in 19:57 knocking off another massive 50 seconds off his PB. So the best part of 2 minutes shaved off his time in 7 days.
Fantastic effort! It goes to show if you work hard and remain consistent in training you can achieve great results.Well done Andy (aka Liquid form).
Finally thanks to all of you that took part, spectators and the strong support from the management and fitness team to make this a resounding success.
I’m looking to arrange another event in Sept-Oct of this year with a few more competitors.
Keep training and all the very best to you all.
