Introduction By WGC

Can one man make a difference at a Gym? Ask anybody at Gorton’s Fitness First in Manchester – and the answer will be a resolute yes. Micky White is a Personal Trainer of outstanding ability. And a true X Training Champion.

Micky White leaves the UK for pastures new in Australia with his girlfriend Naomi. And for Fitness First an empty void is left as an absolute gem of a personal trainer has been lost.

Micky is quite simply one of the best there is.  His modesty will cover the brilliance of his athletic achievements – he will accept his awards with a sheepish grin and quiet acknowledgement – and be genuinely oblivious to the respect he has earned from his peers and competitors alike.

We wish Micky well in his new venture; he will sorely missed in the UK.  But at the same time, we know that the future of X Training in the southern hemisphere has just taken on a new talent – one that will make the same difference at it did at Gorton.

And for those that know Micky – you can rest assured he will take this challenge on and not tire in his devotion to the sport to be recognised and established on a continent that shares its passion in competitive multi-endurance sports, as much as we do in the UK.

Micky White

6 days, average 2 ½ hours a day.

Do you compete in any other sport?

Running: 10,000m 5,000m – trial running – that sort of thing. Favourite is ½ marathon.

Have you competed in any other sport in the past?

Boxing.

Why do you find X Training so exciting?

The variety in training and the satisfaction of improving, whether it be on the X-Training course that I’m training for or the improvements to my running, rowing and biking whilst not even training specifically for any of these events.

Who has been your biggest influence in X Training?

Andy Lett.

What is your favourite exercise?

Running.

What is your favourite food for training?

Haven’t got one – just plenty of it!

What is your ambition in X Training?

Leaving the sport in the UK is going to be tough. But the new challenge of starting up X Training in Australia is something that I am looking forward to.

What exercise secret would you give a newcomer to cross training?

Break the X-training course into sections and work on multiple sets. Work on the weakest link.

More On Sport...

No, fortunately.

Have you ever parachuted (sky dived tandem or solo) out of a plane. Would you?

I haven’t yet but it is one thing that I would like to do within my lifetime.

What is the one sport you have never taken part in but would love to have excelled in?

I wish that I had done a little more swimming but I can’t say that it’s anything that I would want to excel in.

Micky White

There are too many great comedians to boil it down to just one!

What is your favourite book or magazine?

Don’t do fiction; quite up on personal development & books from publishers Human Kinetics.

A big No.

I can’t say that I’ve watched much – I’d rather watch some quality boxing.

On Health...

Do you think the obesity problem in schools and the US can be controlled?

That’s a tough one.  I would like to say yes, but unfortunately it has got to be a no.

There are too may high fat convenience foods out there for everybody to eat and in a time where people are always rushing around they are all to often grabbing the wrong stuff to eat.Micky White  We need to put aside some time to prepare and buy good food!

As adults and parents we all need to educate and feed our young generation healthy foods from a young age and lead by example, so these dietary habits become part of their lives.

I have done on occasions.
