Gym Ironman (Gym Ironwoman) Gwen and Tracy ..

Gwen Vs Tracey is now the Ant and Dec of Gym X Training. These races are sure fire hits, the schoolboy stuff dreams are made of , two female titans facing each other and only seconds separating the outcome. Gwen the established sure footed machine whose running and strength endurance has made Gwen a firm favourite and the one who is at the top of the tree.
Chasing on her heels and providing such thrilling races is Tracy Davies. Just it seems always on the heels of Gwen , these races are now what makes the one on one race – the traditional race plan of Gym X Training so spectacular .
I asked Gwen to answer a quick 5 minute interview after the event and spoke to Tracy at the event about their classic races.
How do you feel setting the new record for the new Gym Ironman.
I was absolutely thrilled and amazed to break the 30min barrier.!
What’s your lasting memory of this particular event?
I was aware of Tracy when I came off the bench jumps, I knew she got off the bike before me but I remained composed! I kept calm and didn't panic. When we reached the row, it was so close. It was such an intense and thrilling finish - fantastic race against Tracy and again helped to push us both to achieve great results.
How will be chilling out after ?
I have taken it easy this week, started back training on Wednesday but very light training. I need the time to recover and recuperate.
How would you encourage more women to come in at Advanced level
I encourage as many people as I can when I train and you hope that you will inspire more to get involved and compete. Gym X-Training is growing and it was do good to see so many outstanding athletes perform on Sat!

Tracy Davies
Tracy Davies had been following a strict online plan before the race with previous winning times firmly in her sites. She achieved this and wanted to win. But Gwen had other ideas and pushed even harder . I talked to Tracy and asked her about her training and she felt about the day “Everything went to plan with the racing and training apart from winning that is" she chuckled ”“ I stuck to my game plan and had times and splits to stick to , which was the difference between this race and the last race and was running my own race and consequently felt much more prepared for it and I feel much more improved”
Looking at the dreaded 1000 m at 10 % inlcine Treadmill I asked Tracy how she would focus on taking that on “ With the treadmill you still have 3 more events after and it plays such an important part of the race. If you lose it on the treadmill , you have so much catching up to do “ she replied.
What about the over all performance , were you happy with that I asked “ It was “ She said with a wry smile “As hard as I expected, There is no other way to describe it. You have around thirty minutes of pain, mixed with an intense challenge which is relentless and will not allow you to rest”

What about the future I asked, as I had played a pivotal role in designing her training plan. Tracy went to say “ I think the way we have set about our training has been very focused on getting to know the race, so when you approach the actual race , you have done the run troughs and know roughly the splits you can manage and know in your head at any one stage just what you can do. So you train and work your damn arse off in training”
Of which I can confirm that since December Tracy has been doing exactly that. You cannot ask for more than a 100% performance. And that is what you get with Tracy.
