What have been your thoughts so far on the Series?
The XT Series has had two great events so far this year. If the remaining events are as successful then the year will have been a good one.
On the last two events what has been the most memorable moment that you witnessed?
Probably the shoulder press finish in the Women’s Advanced race at Maxifit.
Would you like to see some names from the past come back into the scene again?
They have probably moved on to other things like CrossFit or Triathlon. I think most of them would struggle to post winning times now as well.
Any thoughts on CrossFit
It’s not for me.
Do you prefer the race on race (all doing the same course) approach or individual stations (each event completed – rest then move on to the next task?
Race on race approach.
The Series plays to a number of gyms that have a following generally lead by inspirational personal trainers or members that are passionate about performance results – what would you say to other gyms that do not have that approach and the benefits of running a X Training challenge?
Running a XT challenge is a great way to get member’s focused on a specific goal and give them a performance goal to train towards.
What has been your hardest race in the years you have done XT?
Gym Ironman or the Grueller are the hardest races for me.
Why do you think it’s such a hard struggle to get XT into gyms?
At present, there isn’t a big enough financial reason for gyms to add XT to their programs.
What is on your XT wish list?
To keep beating my times year on year
How do you compare the 60’s to the 40’s at Gorton
It makes it more difficult for me on the weights stations and training for it is much more weights orientated than for other courses.
In my experience being strong is not necessarily the prime ingredient for the lactic tests here – what would be your advice in training for lactic tolerance and strength endurance .
Train consecutive stations every time you train. Don’t neglect anything even it is one of your better disciplines. |
