On X-Training...
How long have you been X-Training?
I have been doing stamina and endurance challenges for 22 years now but have only ever done solo challenges, I have dabbled with x-training off and on since 1994 when I done the Powersport challenge, now at the grand old age of 46 I am getting the blood back into my veins once more and determined to be the best...

Why do you find X-Training so exciting?
The sheer buzz and excitement of it all, nothing comes close to the heat of competition!!!

Do you teach X-Training to your clients?
I have had quite a few clients who have asked me to incorporate this into their training plan, so what I basically do is a session based around a x-training circuit plus some beasties thrown into the equation..

What are their views on X-Training?
They love it....and most of all can see the benefits!!!

Who has been your biggest influence in X-Training?
One of my biggest influences has to be Bernie Shrosbree, former Royal Marine, Survival of the Fittest champion...phenominal athlete and one hell of a mind set, never giving in...and that is what I have instilled into my training..

How often do you train?
I try and train four to five days a week, but with my working schedule I find it harder to fit in a quality session..When I turned 40 I have focussed more on core strengthening and just stick to the basics of good old fashioned push-ups, sit-ups and chin-ups...plenty of them...

What is your favourite excerise?

Hard one...but it has to be Push-Ups...can still bash out 100 in a minute...

What is your favourite food for training?
Most definitely fish and pasta..and one of my calorie busting protein shakes thrown in for good measure...

What is your ambition in X-Training?
To do my best...and if I do then I know I won't be far from the top!!!

What exercise secret would you give a newcomer to X-Training?

To train hard, to get their body in peak condition, and most importantly to get the mind set right, to be positive and not negative!

On Health...
Do you think the obesity problem in schools and the US can be controlled?
Tough call, being a past teacher myself, you can preach what to eat, drink, and live a healthy lifestyle to pupils until you are blue in the face, but at the end of the day you cannot control what they eat. Obesity is a major problem and the UK is getting worse, a national programme should be brought into the education system.

What's the one golden rule in weight management?

Loads of Patience...and Stick to a Weight Management plan!!!!...

Do you know your BMI & BMR?

Personally I don't have my BMI and BMR done, but my BMI was 8.8%, and that was 2 years back.

Do you know your resting and maximum heart rate?
My resting heart rate is around the 40-42 mark, maximum has been in the 170's but I have always managed to get this down rapidly within a short time..

Do you train with an HR monitor?

When I do my own training programme I normally wear a Polar HR monitor.
