Fitness Xtreme 2009
Gymxtc ™
Gym X Training Championships 2009
Race Report (Part 1)
On the 16th May at Luton Fitness First, for the third year running, Mark Drury hosted a very exceptional gym challenge. Competing from all over the country and from a number of gyms and the armed services, the gym elite gathered to once again compete in the only sport for gyms - X Training.
Throughout the day there were some incredible races. Individuals were competing, but crucially so were the gyms coming down as team to earn point towards the the first ever UK X Training Gym Championships (Gymxtc ™). The racing was exceptional, the judging to a very high standard and the results? Well, they speak for themselves. An enjoyable day all round and one that sets the standard for other gyms to try and emulate.
The race report about this very challenging gym event finds its way to you the member, so that you can be informed of an incredible sport for gyms - X Training. It is competed by UK Gymathletes nationally and is the only gym based sport has recordable results, that show a physical improvement in fitness. It is competed by amongst others ,personal trainers, Army PTI's , Royal Marine PTI's , the Police , Fireman and most important of all - you the gym member.
Lets take a look at the positives of this amazing sport.
Luton Fitness First, host their own X Training Gym Challenge. It is run in it's entirety by Mark Drury (Personal Trainer) and funded totally by the entrants. An average cost for entry is around £25.00 to £30.00 . That is really exceptional value. You would pay more for a one off session with a personal trainer and not really see any real results (as a one off event) but personal trainers out there that can see the benefit of training for a gym challenge - and it makes sense on two fronts,
- They see recordable improvements in their clients fitness
- They create an income stream for themselves in training their clients.
Why would a Personal Trainer , train you for a marathon, a triathlon, or a duathlon, when he can easily train you for a gym challenge? One that you don't need to travel half way round the country ( compete at your own gym) gives you all the motivation you need - and gives you recordable and achievable results.
The event at Luton can prove this. In a three year cycle, real results speak for themselves.Andy Brown, Olivier Jacquet and Paul Chase all train at Camberley Fitness First

These times are as accurate as possible because the they have been verified and judged to a very high degree and as such are uncontested.
What is so common in X Training and one of the most common phrases you will hear about the sport - is the answer to the question - Why do you do X Training? And the answer. It gives me something to train for.
