Locked racing.

Locked racing is when using Life Fitness equipment the final time is no more then one second apart in the worldgymchallenge 'Gym - Fit' Leader board.

Essentially the race comes down to the who wants it most 1000 m 5% incline run, as the challenge is designed to be as close as possible throughout the whole course.

It's anybody's game - it just falls down to who wants its most!

Current locked racers are :

Jason King                    (14 - 29)

Jason King is currently the fastest man for Fitness Xtreme X Training Challenge, which is held once a year at Luton Fitness First.

He trains at David Lloyd Basildon, with some of the fittest X Trainers in the country and recently competed in the Octathalon ™ team event with Nik Kandola, in which they finished second to Scotland's Alex Woods and James King.

A family man through and through, Jason divides his time between training, work and looking after his son - who no doubt will be a terrific X Trainer one day just like his Dad!

Steve Oxlade                  (14 - 30)

Steve Oxlade trains at Fitness First in Covent Garden. The amount of training Steve completes for each event is tailored to a very specific training program - sometimes only training for up to 30 min's. But it's what you do in those 30 min's that count - ask any X Trainer!

Competing in events in Dubai, Hampshire, Manchester and many more over a long period in the sport means the more events he trains for the better he gets.

Taking on Jason in a head to head race would be a thrilling spectacle and a very close race. .

Steve Mead                   (14 - 31)

Steve ' Legs ' Mead trains out of Fitness First in Walsall, West Midlands. Loving this sport and the people he meets Steve has progressed on to beiing one of the most consostent performers in X Training.

Last year at the Hampshire , Steve competed in both the Intermediate and the Open on the same day and performed brilliantly on both platforms.

The Intermediate, or the Sprint can actually be used for training programs for the advanced guys as the level of exhertion is pretty dramatic in any of these challenges.

Racing either Steve or Danny will be just another day at the office for Steve, but the crowd watching - it will be neck and neck all the way.

Danny Watson                (14 - 32)

Danny is currently taking X Training to another level within the Army. He has achieved much in the relatively short period he has taken to the sport.

Training to the level to which Danny does means that he has met many like minded people at events - these are not people who shoulders you rub against in a line to a mass race, or swim past in a crowded field, these are ordinary people who just like to train in a gym and train very hard! and you get to know them very well .

Racing Les or Steve will be just too close to call!

Les Barrow                  (14 - 33)

Les Barrow is a formidable Marine - in fact all Marines are formidable, but this PTI will not quit and has a desire to always perform to the max.

Traveling from Dorset to ROKO Gillingham this year so he could get a verified time in the WGC leader board is something that X Trainers do for passion - and this is where the difference between passion for fitness - and general fitness take over - not one Personal Trainer from ROKO Gillingham will take part in a gym challenge - yet you have Marines who will travel hundreds of miles - you decide who has passion!

Racing Danny would be a race of friendship, nerve, and determination - when they both hit that treadmill - you just know it's going to be tough and hard for them both. But who will want it most?

Martin Carter              (15 - 04)

Martin Carter from Evesham in Worcestershire has always been committed to X Training and competes regularly, often finishing within the top five of any event.

Having traveled also to compete in Dubai, Martin would enter events as much as he can - wherever he can.

The season for X Training is a long one - no real breaks Jan to December, but around nine or so events currently taking place - training individually for those events is quite tiring on the body - but when you think about it - what do you do at any training day in the gym ? Train ? This just focuses your training into meaning. You don't have to compete , but if you are like Martin - competing in his blood and he loves the challenge.

Racing Nelson on the WGC event is a very close race in anybody's language.

Nelson Anderson             (15 - 05)

Nelson Anderson is adrenalin in human form - pumped before a race and raring to go, Nelson will always give it all he has got.

Training out of David Lloyd Basildon (as well as Jason) Nelson will enter, compete , race, run, lift, pump, jump, whatever, as long as he is at a X Training event.

Alongside Nelson will be Amber his wife who also competes and together, traveling and meeting friends up and down the country is what makes them all the more determined to enter more and more events.

Racing Martin - would be a very close shave at the finsih line.
