The Ten Minute Gut Buster Comic Relief Gym Challenge
Any gym in the UK can set up for its members free of charge. The condition is that it is not deviated from it's order and in the event of a drawer the results are decided by fastest Row, Run, Bike - if that's a drawer why not have a race off 500 m row finale?
The fastest time last year on this challenge was by Craig Horsfeild

Local parliamentary candidate from Medway Ray Christi was just outside the minute marker and funds were raised for the British Heart Foundation.

The UK GCA
The United Kingdom Gym Challenge Association is being formed during 2009. It will have defined roles and a mission of intent.
At this moment in time the structure is taking form to develop the Association. (Click here)
The Association has been very careful to develop ideas and initiatives to develop the sport of X Training which have not been attempted before and its primary roles are overseeing the awards mentioned below and to get the sport recognised through Sport England.
It has it's own Trade Mark Brand in X Training called G Y M X T C ™ series (Gym X Training Challenge) and these events will carry fitness points to any organiser who wishes these points to be allocated to X Trainers at their events.
If you feel you have a particular skill that could enhance the sports profile then please contact info@worldgymchallenge.com

There is a long time to go before the final race at The Hampshire and a lot of points up for grabs.

Keep posted over the next few weeks where more information will follow with developments.

Lloyd Miilichap (personal trainer) strikes the exact right balance for his clients for choice of training and cleverly incorporates charity and trophies into motivating some of them to achieve results in fitness.
The British Heart Foundation will be receiving a small cheque from Lloyd shortly.
And Lloyd's clients? Well, friends, clients and some of the X Trainers who turned up for the day supported one another every step of the way - and achieved incredible results. A massive well done to you all.

The WGC Facebook Group is now active. Check the blue column to your left and sign up.
Chat to your friends about the amazing sport of X Training - upload photos of events - discuss training techniques, do whatever it takes to get your timings down to a level that you are happy with.
It really is time to tell the gyms that actually, the 5% or so who love to compete in the gym- can and will make this sport grow and this is just another way of getting the message out there .
Also, to run along the same lines - the WGC Chat rooms will be opening soon, so up t0 50 of you can all chat at once - just how good is that ?
Getting the message out there that X Training is definitely the sport for gyms is focusing on the people who work out in gyms. Please tell your friends about this amazing sport.

After a meeting with Exercise Movement and Dance Partnership yesterday - WGC and X Training will be going through some radical changes in Gym Sports Promotion over the coming weeks.

Keep posted as details will be released shortly.

| 7th Jan |
The first event of the season kicks off in just over 3 weeks. A new challenge in a new year and this one see's a slight change in tact towards the member of a gym who wants to try X Training at a level to which he can actually complete it !
Lloyd Millichap often trains clients for various events up and down the UK - he has spent two years competing at Intermediate level and his level of fitness has improved dramatically. It seemed the next logical step to take this sport to his own gym without the need to travel too far for his clients - so that's what he did.
Unable to include the treadmill in his line up due to restrictions of movement - Lloyd designed this course specific to his gym environment - making it relatively easy to set up, hugely enjoyable and accessible to 100% of the members at Fitness First Camberley.
All timings for this event can be entered into Personal Folders as this challenge is now in the system

| 7th Jan |
Last year saw some very fit and gifted individuals take on certain gym challenges that were frankly quite amazing. This year WGC will publish a special Charity Page for X Trainers who have taken it upon themselves to raise money for charity doing any sort of a gym challenge.
The first challenge this year is to be undertaken by Craig Horsfeild of Gorton Fitness First in a Row The Marathon attempt - 26.2 miles or 42 km - which ever way you look at it - it's a long way and WGC wishes Craig all the best in this very physical challenge.

The WorldGymChallenge can be competed in any gym, by any athlete that does any sport in any country.
It can be competed by the Army, Navy, Air Force and Fire Services in any country.
This year the fastest man using Life Fitness equipment (WGC chosen brand) was Neil Cameron.
Neil's time was verified and witnessed by two X Trainers (Mike Jones and Farouk Vawda)
Since his return to X Training, Neil has proved time and time again that to be the best in this very demanding sport you have to do it - not think about it, or say I could do that, but get to an event, time trial or a Personal Trainer that can verify times and say " This year I am the best at the WorldGymChallenge" And nobody can argue that.
Neil Cameron is the fastest man of the WGC Challenge 2008
Well done Neil

The Sport of X Training needs it individuality - it needs to be considered unique. There are roughly 150 regular competitors in X - Training Challenges in the UK. WGC believes this makes the sport quite unique in its own right.
Those competitors that have been competing long enough and have earned their tag are being announced on WGC. They are "The Gym Fit Elite" and anybody who thinks otherwise can take part in a X Training event and argue the case and earn their tag.
Kirk ' Cool Hand ' Gibbons.
Named after the Paul Newman character in the film Cool Hand Luke - unflappable and super cool.
Andy 'Gill' Lett .
Named after the razor blade. Sharp, smooth and basically a great ambassador for his gym and the sport.

Nelson ' Duzzit ' Anderson
WGC considers the sport of X Training to be unique enough for the sport to have individuals who are known by their Tags . The first individual to have a tag to their name is Nelson Anderson, or Nelson 'Duzzit' Anderson. Fitting and true because Nelson has been at more or less every meet and he duzzit very well!
Tags will be suggested to members for reference to the site later - but thanks to Nelson , the sport just takes that little bit more of uniqueness to the next level.
The Gym Elite have that title - now they gain there tags.

Wow!
What a day it was GYMXTC TM 2008 . It may not of had the numbers for the big established X - Training events, but I don't think any one argue it certainly had the races. So many firsts were brought into this line up with incredible racing on the day - which has always been WGC main objective.
Husband vs Wife
Brother vs Brother
Twin vs Twin!
Intermediate vs Advance
Politician racing!
To name just a view initiatives taken on by WGC to make the racing just that little bit more exciting.
More details will follow during the week but for now congratulations to a number of Gymathletes who have increased their Status
more .. |
| 16th September |
The first race ever of GYMXTCTM has to be something a little bit special.
Nelson and Amber Anderson are really all that is good about X - Training. You will not hear a bad word about them. They have been competing and turning up regularly at each event for years and it would be fair to say they love it.
They form part of the X - Training community at David lloyd, Basildon which includes Nik and Karen Kandola, Jason King and Mikki Skingsly. They as others who compete, represent, as a group what is a good about the member's of a gym who are passionate about their fitness and have the drive and desire to always try that little harder to get fitter.
If more gyms had people like the group at David Lloyd Basildon - with Jason already in the WGC Hall of Fame with the course record for Fitness Xtreme (Luton) and Nik finishing 7th in this years Tough Guy - with the rest of them all completing it in reasonable times and competing regularly all over the country - Gyms may actually for once take a look at the incredible Gymathletes that are emerging and say " You know what ? we are proud they train at our gym" because WGC is certainly proud they are part of this web site.
So the first ever race - for the first ever spectacle of WGC - The Orbital - GYMXTC TM - has the privilege in having both Amber and Nelson race each other with a start time difference of 4 min's 34 seconds (The difference in their best times) Nelson will have to catch up Amber before she finishes her race and believe me - both of these people are very competitive.
The whole day will finish with a Charity Run, Bike, Row with a trophy for the fastest male and female time of the day.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ARE ENTERING !

Gym X - Training Challenge - Championship - Cup
A new mission statement about the future of GYMXTC tm has been put onto the web site under the GYMXTC header in the left blue column along with a brief outline for the race format for the day.
Click here if you wish to read it.
The Orbital will take place on Sunday 21st September at Dance Junction in Rochester Kent. The X Training community is asked if they wish to pop along and support their friends and fellow X Trainers in a spectacle which promises to bring the attention of X- Training into a higher level. With a series of events on the horizon the year is hotting up to a grand finale and I'm sure that whatever you feel feel about X Training right now, you must be aware that it is growing again and the feeling of this sport being given the opportunity to expand must surely be within its clasp very soon.
Whatever event you enter WGC wishes you every success.

The 'Fittest' Royal Marine
Well done to Chris "Lordy" Lord for achieving the accolade of Fittest Royal Marine when he set the course the record of 16 min's 25 seconds for the Royal Marine 'Commando Course' X Training Challenge.
What I'm sure Lordy is thinking now is where do I go from here ?
Here's a thought a interactive UK Forces X Training Challenge !
Here's a bigger better thought, a Worldwide Forces Challenge!!!
I certainly think Sport England would agree the participation levels would shoot up somewhat !
Well done Lordy |

Stash
It is with regret that that WGC has to inform you that relationship between Stash and X - Training has been terminated by mutual agreement.
Stash have been fantastic whilst the sport has been trying to gain recognition - providing vests to the GB Team who competed in Best of the Best 2006 and producing limited edition vests and T Shirts for events and offering a number of T Shirts as prizes.
Due to the work involved in producing these excellent vests and T shirts it has been decided that Stash should continue their Rugby line which has always been their primary concern.
WGC will continue it's search to find a sporting brand that believes in the Gymathlete and gymwear for X - Training to include both male and female and thanks David Green and all the team at Stash for their support throughout the years they have been involved in X- Training.

The 'Du- a' and' Tri-a' Gym Challenge range from WGC

The' Du-a' Gym Challenge and the' Tri-a' Gym Challenge will soon be released into the database and be able to set up as events within a gym or by yourself.
As the name suggests these challenges comprise of either two or three pieces of equipment and initially use the Treadmill, Bike and Rower. Other Challenges will be added if these prove successful.
Gym Challenges are under performed in gyms due to the workload it puts on staff and resources. And when gyms instructors or Personal Trainers wish to run an event they can only at the management discretion.
The 'Tri-a' and 'Du-a' Gym Challenge range is easy to set up - easy to record and should be great fun when competing against friends and other members of a gym. It start's the ball rolling into competing in events and hopefully will spark more interest from any gym into competing in X Training Challenge

Can you or a friend compete in any of these ranges?
Can your Personal Trainer Verify your Time?
Has your gym got the equipment?
Have you got the motivation?
Do you want to get fitter ?
If the answer is yes to any of these questions then why not 'Du -a' Gym Challenge or 'Tri-a' Gym Challenge - you never know you may actually like it!

The Dale Destroyer
The Dale Destroyer was a over riding success and Fitness First in Rochdale proved to be once again an inspiring gym with incredibly motivated staff and members.
The following report by Aidy Cartwright gives an insight into why there is a future for gym sports and why when one gym unites on a single day and raises money for charity, the family values of teaching children the importance of the gym, the sport and bonding it can create is all too apparant
My thanks to Fitness First Rochdale and all the team for their frendship and hospitality

Adding to the growing list of entrants will be for the first time ever in a X Training Gym Challenge a Parliamentary Candidate for the Tory Party - Ray Christi. Ray, who is a keen sportsman and regular half marathon runner went on to explain " I think the Gym Challenge is a wonderful concept and as I have personal reasons to support the British Heart Foundation this will be something for me that is both personally very worthy and good for the Medway Maritime Hospital too " more ...
With the launch of 'the orbital ' comes the drive to get X Training into the mainstream and worldgymchallenge.com will be focusing in Medway and South east areas to launch more competitions in the future - this will include a drive to get schools actively involved and local authorities.
A 'worldgymchallenge Charity Day' is not an unreasonable prospect as the infrastructure is already in place and will be the ultimate aim of worldgymchallenge - but is has to start somewhere and Medway and the South East will be the focus point initially.
The BHF and other charities are set to to be on the receiving end of many forthcoming events as the sport expands and more people take up the gym challenge and increase their focus and motivation in the gym as they train for X Training Gym Challenges. |

|
| Important announcement |
| Why? |
| WGC believes it has over the last three years showed great commitment to the sport of X Training and would ask X trainers to view the page Your Voice , as well as the News letters, and current Latest News. |
At the end of the month the organisers of the Grand Prix are going to decide if they wish to continue running X Training as in dependant events or unite them under a WGC prefix. An email went out to all of the organisers involved in the Grand Prix at the beginning of the month to unite the sport and create The Hall of Fame.
The concept is quite simple - Winners of each event set course records and their name then goes into the WGC Hall of Fame. Those times are published and others from around the world would try to beat them.
The reason for this is so that Sport England can see a united front on the X Training scene and that course records are established.
-
Rankings would be unaffected for all other websites as each final result is published after the event.
-
Splits would be availiable for full members.
-
Each event would continue in the same format as expressed by the organisers.
Current organisers are free to choose if they wish to have the WGC prefix for an event, choose another outlet or remain independant.
The people who do this sport are without doubt the most important element of the sport and WGC would like to hear your views on this very important issue please contact info@worldgymchallenge.com
For the X Training to grow it has to have direction and structure. WGC wishes to expand on this and anybody is welcome to add their ideas or views.
This subject is also printed on the Blog Page and comments are welcome. |

The course male record stands at 17:57min's - set by X Trainer of the Year 2007 Andy Lett. (pictured right)
The course female record stands at 22:10 min's - set by Mary Eve McNerney.
Fitness First Rochdale is fastly becoming a strong focus point for X Training.
Since Aidy Cartwright took interest in the sport, the first ever WGC event took place, followed by the testing ground for the Dale Destroyer last year in December and now the inaugural Dale Destroyer inclusion into the UK Grand Prix.
What makes Fitness First Rochdale special ? Could it be that the gym unites in a bonding of true uniqueness when a X Training Challenge takes place? Could it be that Fitness First Achiever of the Year (Amanda Deane) discovered X training there ? Could it be that the management compete and take part in these events too . Could it be also that they are combined in support for one another ? I guess it could be a lot of things, but what is without question is this is one seriously motivated club.
Also, coming soon a unique challenge taken up by a Fitness First Manager Rochdale - stay posted.
Is it any wonder that WGC acknowledges Rochdale as a unique club, that has members that take part in a unique sport, with a dedicated team of professionals at a unique venue. This event is having funds being donated to the British Heart Foundation, which WGC is proud to support.
Good luck to all those that take part.

| 22nd July |
WGC has taken several steps this year to enhance the sport of X training and bring awareness to the Sport.

These steps include :
-
Newsletters
-
Hall of Fame
-
X Trainer of the Year
And now it's latest initiative the launch of The Orbital
More details will follow shortly about this new development - but you can be rest assured it's main attempt is to ensure the sport of X Training becomes the most talked about new sport in the gym industry.
If you would like to know more about this sport and it's plans for X Training - well you are going to have to wait a while - but WGC would like all X Trainers to know the sport of X Training and it's growth through the eyes of Sport England is still it's main priority and the Orbital is just another stepping stone towards that goal.

It's no good WGC keep harping on about the benefits of X Training - what is needed is input from the people who do it. Find out what one of our veteran athletes thinks about X Training more ....
