X Training
The sport of X Training has had many definitions lately and interpretation is largely left to the individual.
So WGC would like to make clear it's interpretation and add that as a database linked to results page bases it's findings on actual and real results.
Structure
Although new to the sport of X Training in terms of events and participation, WGC came along when events were taking place but finding the results for each event was fairly difficult. There was certainly no structure behind this and as each event finished , more often then not a detailed and lengthy search to find out results -took place - often having to wait many weeks to see the final times.
Database
In the early days WGC published the splits on excel - this was time consuming - free and at the time as good as it got really. The idea was concieved that results could be found on central databse and each person that took place would have a personal folder of the event they entered , the time they accomplished and a method to record if they were improving. All of which was not present, nor thought of at the time.
The Full Picture
Since the conception of the idea of WGC - it was plainly obvious to see there was only half a sport in X Training - a bit like football matches taking place and no recording the results. Events were happening and people were taking part but crucially the very substance of which makes a sport was missing - results...
Results
.. results were published - but generally as a final time only. And certainly this process was quite lengthy in the process from the time the race finished to seeing the final race results published.
The Future
But that all changes now - it is possible as each race finishes that results can be published straight away - and times get recording for instigating such avenues for development such as the WGC Hall of Fame and setting up course records, all of which had not been considered but is now a matter of course for the web site of WGC.
Interpretation of X Training
For any sport to exist there has to be some defining issues that meet the criteria laid down by a recognised council that can legitimately say that the sport is recognised because it meets the required standard for existing and future development.
The sport of X Training is therefore categorised into the following area for definition |
To test aerobic and anaerobic levels of endurance in a race format, which tests Speed , Strength and Endurance between individuals (male or female) or a team of individuals - to measure their fitness capabilities according to a global database (worldgymchallenge.com) which is free for any gym to take part in.
The definition of X Trainer - or Gymathlete is representative to active participation in any recognised WGC event by a competitor.
