How long have you been X-Training?
On and off for 10 years or so. had a big long off when my partner and baby were killed. the heaviest thing i lifted then was a wine bottle.
Why do you find X-Training so exciting?
Because it's not just physical challenge but a mental one; thinking up training routines to make sure you're improving at all the disciplines together rather than improving at some and getting worse in others is the real challenge...especially for a duffer who doesn't really know what to do for the best! training doesn't get boring because of the enormous variety of workout possibilites.

Who has been your biggest influence in X-Training?
Tracy Kendall who i met on holiday in lanzarote. iiwas just doing a bit of running and cycling at the time and had never set foot in a gym before. she had done the ultra-Fit and tropicana cross training challenges and i was soon hooked on the challenges too.
How often do you train?
most days for about an hour.
What is your favourite excerise?
i like everything but bench jump overs which do my knees in and squat thrusts which aggravate my osteoarthritic neck. hence i rarely practise these disciplines.

What is your favourite food for training?
curry and beer
What is your ambition in X-Training?
i know i'm never going to win anything at my age but i would like to keep competing and get a bit better every year. iiwouldn't mind beating Gary Nicholls before we're both 60.
What exercise secret would you give a newcomer to X-Training?
i work on the premise that if i can do say 29 reps of a certain exercise then after a few days recovery I will be able to complete 30 reps of that exercise and then 31 etc. That's my simple duffers formula for getting better
