Marco, what did you think of today?
Really enjoyed myself, really really enjoyed it – I set a few personal goals and I managed to achieve those so I was very happy.
I havn’t seen you at one of these events before? Is this your first or are you a past competitor?
No this is the first event I have ever done.
How did you find out about it?
Marine at Cornwall is a personal trainer at Fitness First in Southampton, she is very good. I was chatting with her and she said why don’t you try this in terns of intermediate goal setting and so I did.
After you finished, what goes through your head?
I was just thinking about how I had done with the time. II had beaten the guy who was in front of me I did not come last – when I done stuff in the gym before hand my estimated times was the slowest person, but I certainly was not the slowest today by a long margin so I was very pleased about that.
So looking at X training’s future would you say you will be taking part in a few more of these events?
Yes I think that I would do them, I want to try and get a little bit stronger have more muscle endurance and things like that for other sports, so although this is not a goal in itself, it is still a good thing which is an immovable deadline and there is no escape from it. So it is really good training for me for that purpose.
Anyone else at your gym do this sort of thing?
They probably do, I don’t know, but there is a few people that have just gone into the Marines, and things like that, so I am sure they would be up for this.
You havn’t got a forces backgroung?
No
What do you do?
I run my own company, software company for the NHSS.

How did you find this today?
Tougher than I thought, I did a slower time than I had estimated so I was slightly disappointed , I blew a gasket on the last 3 events especially the treadmill – it wasn’t so much energy it was the whole breathing thing, something I will have to work on.
What is your background in fitness.
Just general fitness, I used to model, I used to go to the gym regularly for that to keep in shape and just be competitive.
Who brought you into X training?
My cousin convinced me to join him and I am always up for a challenge.
So this is your first event?
Yes, first event
How do you think you will be coping for the rest of them? Are you going to keep up with it?
I would like to think so, basically because of that competitive edge and yes you will see me again.

What do you think of today?
Very hard, worthwhile, very competitive. The times are going faster and faster.
Will you do it next year?
I never want to do another one again! But when next year comes around, I’ll be back I am sure.
You’re a fireman? Do many fireman do this sort of thing?
Yea, we use that as a regular PT session, those exact circuits.

Stuart what do you think of today?
I enjoyed it. I like the place, I think its good venue just a bit disappointed about my result, but happy that I got a personal best.
Personal best, so what’s next?
Hopefully training for the Iron Man I think?
Give us a background to your career, you’re a PE teacher?
I am a PE teacher at a secondary school, a school sports co-ordinator and I’m trying to get X training into schools slowly but surely. I do it in lessons whenever I can, try and get the kids interested, they get quite motivated sometimes when I set little courses for them in the weights room.
Do you see any kids aspiring to this?
Yes, given the right motivation use of IT, on line competition, I can see it being motivated to a lot of kids, because the gym environment some kids are switched off by traditional sports and they prefer the gym environment like what we have here today. I like the thought of a on on-line competition. I think we will get quite a few kids motivated by that.
Just give a reminder, what school are you at?
Grange School in Oldham
And what do you see over the next 5 years with X training?
Well, if we can get some company involved with a bit of backing and as I say get some kind of on-line competition going I think it could quite well take off.

What about the rest of your training for the next event, how’s that going?
Will probably start training just before Christmas for the one in February,I’ve just concentrated on this one really till now, unfortunately I did get an injury about 3 weeks ago which hindered my training a bit, just make had to make sure I got through today.
