Richard Vint
Gym Athlete of the Year 2010

The first ever UK 'Gym-Fitness' Challenge Series took place this year.
The search was on to find the best 'Gym Athletes' in the UK and bring them to the publics attention. This would be done through a 'Series' of events , lasting one year. All existing organisers of known X Training events were asked if they wanted to take part, some accepted and some declined. The result being points were allocated for the 'Series' events only. The last event of the season for the Series was Fit Brit.
A Gym Athlete is a member of the public who belongs to a gym, they are not professional athletes, they do not have sponsorship and even the gym they train at knew very little about them.

The UK Gym Challenge Association decided that a platform should be given to these exceptional people to showcase their fitness levels.
A Gym Athlete is versatile in all aspects of fitness; speed, strength, power, endurance and is prepared to take any fitness challenge that will test their mental and physical fitness to the limit. But the amazing thing is, these events are completed in anything from 10 - 30 minutes.

It has been the aim of World Gym Challenge.com to showcase the sport of X Training as a sport, with training methods, events , results and a way to communicate to the fitness industry that under your own roofs, you have some of the fittest people in the UK (indeed the world) and you knew nothing about it.
Professional Athletes have funding, support, education and financial backing. What they have achieved in their lifetime is an amazing spectacle of dedication , persistence and very hard training, each victory a testament to their own dedication to their chosen discipline.
Gym Athletes are no different, except they do not as yet have the support of the Fitness Industry. They have no recognition for what they have achieved and in the short time that sport of X Training has had no platform to showcase the events they enter - until now. |
