2 km on the Bike
It starts off with the Bike - It's simple - race like you never have before - and before you opponent completes his 2000 m.
50 Bench Jumps (25 each side)
Your legs are burning, but now it hits them again - train or fail in this task. Bench Jumps are a cornerstone of X Training . Taxing those legs again - it hurts - but it's bearable! .
50 Full Sit Ups
50 Sit Ups! Not too hard is it? It's testing though. And can you hack it?
750 m Row
OK, It's getting interesting. This a 750 m row - full out ? Maybe not, burn out here and you are only half way down the course. Maybe a time for a bit of breather and take things easy? If you do and it's tie at the end - the fastest row decides! It's a gamble - but what would you do?
30 x 30 kg (men)      30 x 20 kg (women)
It's time to focus folks . You will get to end of it , but how long will it take you ? The top guys do it one. The Challenge in you is being tested.
50 Step Ups (2x 12 kg d/b men - 2 x 8 kg d/b women)
12 kg d/b and 50 Step Ups - Has been known to soar the heart rate! - the arms were sapped by the Shoulder Press but you have to keep going - stop and your opponent will get a valuable lead.
40 x 40 kg Bench Press Men- 40 x 25 kg Bench Press Women
You are really pushing yourself now - this is it, the Bench and then only the Treadmill surely it can't be that tough - believe me it is and stop me calling Surely! 40 kg x 40 reps.
1000 m @ 5 % Incline
The hardest 1000m Run in the world at 5% Incline - this is what separates the men from the boys. You have nearly completed this amazing race - just the treadmill to do? Just? Your arms are burning as you start - your lungs are burning within seconds - your heart rate is going to places , it has never even thought about before! And you and the finish line are nearly friends.
Finish! Well done you have just completed probably the toughest 'Gym Challenge' in the world today and can count yourself true Gym Athlete...

The Ultimate Gym Athlete

The Ultimate Gym Athlete began in 2009 at Fitness First in Chatham Kent. The shield is won annually and the fastest time is added to it. This year the fastest time in the hardest gym challenge in the world was :

Male :      Steve Dowse 14: 32

Female :   Penny Bunton 17:02

These are the Official Competition Records (OCR's) and cannot be beaten until next year, the On Line Challenge continues throughout and can be attempted in any gym in the UK /World.

The fastest verified On Line Challenge time using Life Fitness is

Male: Neil Cameron 13:36

Female: Sue Hemsley 15:46
