The very best 'Gym Athletes' in the country compete for the title.

The Ultimate Gym Athlete 2009

Why start the 'Ultimate Gym Athlete?'

Based on an entire infrastructure that is in place already of members, clubs and equipment , the 'Ultimate Gym Athlete' is designed to encourage motivation and improved fitness to every visit to the gym.

Sport Specific training is very important. If you are a runner, you predominatly run, a cyclist, you cycle, a swimmer, you swim, or maybe all three? The 'Gym Athlete' however uses all the equipment in his environment - The Gym, running, cycling, core work, strength , muscle endurance and c.v cross based exercises and records his or her progress in a series of mini challenges, that culminate in a physical challenge that uses all the skills and equipment in the environment you train in - The Gym.

The ultimate aim is to promote the fittest and best members of any gym.

Do you have to be Ultra Fit to compete?

No - this event is based at the average 'gym user'  level who has been training regularly and who wants to take his or her training up a gear.

What is the purpose of entering if others have been training for years?

All Gym Athletes started off in their first event somewhere. The most important aspect of this race is to get a BMT (Bench Mark Time) and record year on year improvements.

What is the feeling like after completion ?

Like nothing you have ever experienced. 15 to 22 mins of the hardest physical short term endurance sport. You have made the transition from 'gym user' to Gym Athlete and are now recorded in the only database that shows reflection on improvements in fitness levels.

Can I compete in my own gym?

Yes. The database can cater for any gym worldwide and is there to encourage the advancement of X Training as a sport. With more participating, the chances of becoming a recognised sport are greater.

How can I get my time verified at my own gym?

Any personal trainer can apply for 'Verification' purposes.

I am in the Police - can I compete against my colleagues?

Yes. You may catergorise yourself as a Police Officer in Edit my profile after you have joined the WGC website.

Just Police?

No, you can compete against the Armed Services. Navy, Army, RAF, Firefighter or any recognised sport , Football, Rugby, Tennis etc.

Is the training for it too hard?

No. The benefits of vigorous exercise are reported almost daily in the news. Calorie burn is higher in a shorter period of exercise, so you get twice the workout in half the time. Calories also burn after you have exercised , so even when you are in recovery you are burning calories. The benefits are amazing, and weight loss and improved fitness is almost guaranteed, if you stick to a strict training platform and balanced intake of food.

Why haven't we heard of X Training before?

In the US Cross Fit is big business, they have been using high intensity training for years and getting excellent results.

The Gym Athlete is UK based and a database of specific results, that is based on one on one racing and giving motivation and focus to train - they both end up with the individual training harder and getting real results in fitness.

Why am I not X Training?

Because its the gym industry's best kept secret . Real results in fitness and guaranteed improvements, if you follow the Gym Athletes golden rule.

Only you can get your self fitter, X Training will give you the motivation and focus.
