The '5 % ers'

Dear Member,

This is just to inform you that the UK GCA has titled each News letter and Mail shot to the '5 % ers'. This will be the name referred to those that are ' Gym Athletes' within a gym environment. As at the moment only 5% of any gym take part and enter into any gym challenge that a gym decides to run.

As we all know, the most committed and loyal member of a gym is a 'Gym Athlete', and he or she is the one who gets results. Not just weight loss, fitting into a new dress, pinch a lot less - no, joining a gym meant getting results in fitness and that is what the '5% ers' do, they get results that are published in 'Fitness Challenges' in the enviroment they train in - the gym.

Welcome to the Gym Elite Club of the 5% ers.

Run 1000 mThe 'Gym Athletes' Challenge

So the first item is to inform all members of the WGC web site there is a new challenge in town -

The RBR ....

The RBR ?

Yes the RBR

What's the RBR ?

It's the Run Bike Row , don't you know !

This is the challenge that the UK GCA is proposing to have in place for Sport Relief next year, but it starts now. The very first step into becoming a 'Gym Athlete'. It is is the system under GymXTC™ Brand Name. Or you can create it as Personal Challenge (see notes on left)

Bike 2000 mA simple ...

  • Treadmill 1000 m
  • Bike 2000 m
  • Row 500 m

Now when I say simple, it's the effort that you put in that defines it's intensity. Full out, it's a nightmare, but over in around 7 to 8 minutes by the top guys. As a training platform - take your time and just measure the results over the next few months and see how much you can get quicker by. The challenge ends on the 1st March and the first 50 to enter on line will have their results published on the Latest News on WGC.

The Run, Bike , Row is essentially the foundation of any cardio work in a X Training Challenge, and by Row 500 mcompleting the RBR you are having your first taste of what competing a challenge in a gym environment.

Gorton, Manchester Fitness First have already started running Time Trials and the first results have been published. This is an on going challenge, free to enter and can be completed at your own club. Preferably you should be using Life Fitness equipment.

Good luck, it's fun and remember only the first 50 names will be published on the WGC web site that enter - the rest can go into Personal Files and Personal Trainers that are registered on the web site can verify and authenticate results.

The Manchester X Training Challenge.

Plans are well under way for the first ever Gym on Gym Fitness Challenge that will be held at Whitefield Fitness First, Manchester , 14th November.

With the birthplace of X Training , Manchester , it seems only fitting that two of the most established clubs in the UK who host their own X Training Challenges (The Gorton Grueller and The Dale Destroyer) meet in a X Training Challenge - This time , it's not the individual who wins, but the gym! The first ever Gym on Gym Fitness Challenge. You represent your Health Club as a Fitness Team - and the fittest team wins!

Mike Jones, and Rich Ainley, Health and Fitness Manager from Rochdale FF, will bring teams, in the first ever Gym Fitness Challenge for the 'Gym Athlete' at both both clubs. A challenge, that rewards entry to the event and results from the event. On top of that, a good bit of friendly rivalry from two of the fittest clubs in the UK right now.

After the results have been published it will also be possible to see where you are in the Greater Manchester Gym Fitness League

Good Luck in any Gym Challenge that you take part in.

The tough lean times mean that competing and traveling to events has been particularly hard, but the UK GCA wishes to thank the true fitness champions of any gym - the 'Gym Athlete' for their devotion to training and awesome and inspiring achievements at any of the events this year.
