Jax on the bike. Her husband and Coach Rory looks on.

WGC:What was your most memorable moment of this years final

Jax:The moment I remember most was stepping on to the run in third place and having the confidence in knowing what I had to do. I knew at that stage that I could win.

WGC:What was your toughest race and why

Jax:The first race was the toughest as I was not sure of the shape the other competitors were in. I also needed to watch all the other first round races to get a good idea of how hard the day was going to be.

WGC:How did you rate the opposition this year.

Jax:They are all great girls and it was obvious that they had prepared well for the day.

WGC:Jax. Would you encourage the vacant position of Women’s masters

Jax:There needs to be many more women competing at the top level in that age group. However an open event is open to people of all ages and it is their choice what to enter.

WGC:Jax. Would you compete in the above category

Jax:Perhaps yes in the future if the competition and the challenge came from that group.

WGC:How did you rate the judging.

Jax:The judging was fair and did not get in the way of the racing as the event is a race and not an individual challenge. It is just such a shame that some people feel the need to push the limits of the rules on some of the exercises as they can all do them properly.            Jax

WGC:Did you look to the readings of hr monitors

Jax:Yes. It was good to see everyone else was over their threshold during the run as well as me.

WGC:Did you use the suunto t6 after

Jax:I never leave home without it and now have the PC pod in my gym and all my clients are now using them. Accuracy is all.

WGC:How did you rate it against other hr monitors

Jax: In my opinion it has no competition. If you are a serious Octathalete or even a serious sportspersons, you cannot use anything else.

WGC:Would you like to see a weekend – final

Jax:Yes it will come as the sport grows. In a few years it will be over a week with loads of different types of events.

WGC:How do you think we could make it a more sociable and audience friendly occasion

Jax:The advent of the Club course event will bring in more numbers and that will do that.

WGC:Do you think the music fitted the racing .

Jax:Yes, but I think we can do better.

WGC:The comparing was hosted by Stuart Leng again. Is he as much as the finals as the finals?

Jax:No. Stuart does a great job and has been in cross training along time but no one person is cross training or the Octathalon.

WGC:The timings were fast this year. Two days after the event, how did you feel?

Jax:Great, I went off for a 10 mile cross country run

WGC:Can you describe the feeling of racing past the finish line, knowing that you have won.

Jax:Relieved. There were a lot of clients of mine watching and that was added pressure. And my mother!

WGC:Cassius, won by 1 sec. In one of the closest races ever seen. Do you feel sorry for Nik.

Jax:No. Nik did brilliantly in ‘Tough guy’ the next day anyway and Cassius is one of my best mates.

WGC:Do you think technology could help judging or interfere

Jax:Yes and it will.Jax

WGC:How do you think judging could be improved

Jax:By getting more honest competitors. Who would want to win knowing they had cheated?

WGC:Would judges be better if they were paid and qualified

Jax:Probably the exact opposite. It depends on the person.

WGC:Do you think that athletes from the past will ever be tempted back

Jax:If the sport grows yes they will come back

WGC:Do you believe in X Training and its future

Jax:I believe in the future of an exciting sport to watch and participate in and the Octathalon has all that.

WGC:How long do you see as a  this as real possibility. Or do you think it will remain a closed sport.

Jax:2016 Olympics is a real possibility if the funding comes in soon.Jax on the lat pull downs

WGC: X Training is a sport where the age is relevant. Although there are young tri athlete stages, what age do you think training for X Training seriously, should commence.

Jax:I think it could start at age 16. We have seen an excellent 16 year old compete recently in a major event and he could go far as he beat many adults. He could be the next H.D.

WGC:Age relevance and enjoyment of training should go hand in hand. Do you see X Training in the short course as a complimentary benefit to the more aged athlete.

Jax:The short course is an excellent introduction, not only to the sport of the Octathalon, but also to training the right way in a gym

WGC:If you could say to those that left the sport, or who are new to the sport in one sentence- why X Training as a future – what would it be.

Jax:The Octathalon is the best all round workout you can get in a short space of time and this will appeal to thousands of busy gym members, it also gives you a fantastic body shape.
