Interview with Andy Lett winner Health Club Games.

WGC: Andy – how did you feel today went for you?

Andy: Very well. It went to plan for a change. Normally my competition times are no where near what I do in training. But today everything went really well – virtually as good as training times – in fact even better.

WGC: Andy, an exceptional plank time – just remind me how long did you hold that for again?

Andy: It was around 26 min's and 30 sec's.

WGC: That is a fantastic achievement. The mind boggles!

WGC: What was  then your toughest event.

Andy: Probably the bike – you have to get a decent time on that to focus on the plank. This competition is all about knowing where the points are, so getting around seven minutes on the bike is still very very hard on the legs. I think if I hadn't’t got such a good time on the plank – the hardest event would have been the 2000m row, but as I had a good time on the plank , I was able to take it quite easy on that.

WGC: Andy you are the champion. Absolutely well deserved. Well done and see you at the next event.

Interview with Steve Oxlade

WGC: Steve nearly at the end of the day. How are you feeling?

Steve: Well, done five events and one to go. I am just trying to catch my breath back for the row.

WGC: What has been your toughest event so far?

Andy: I think the Plank. I don’t like the plank at all.

WGC: You have the row to look forward to. It’s been a demanding day – and 2000m on the row is a really tough event to finish on. What sort of time are you aiming for?

Steve: If I get under 7mins and 30 seconds I will be quite happy. Maybe 7 20 if it goes well for me.

WGC: What have you been the row  in training?

Steve: I have been training for those sort of times

WGC: How have you find training for this sort of event differs from X Training.

Steve: Obviously – the main difference is that there are gaps in time between events. X Training, all the events are one after the other – no rest. In the Health Club games you have between 5 – 10 minutes between events.

WGC : Between the two type of events – those that have a rest between events and X Training – which has  been your  favourite type of event

Steve: I quite like the ten events with no rest, like the Ultra fit format. I find it hard to find a training partner. There is nobody else. In fact it was quite funny ,at my local gym I asked an instructor who was the fittest man here and he said I am. So I got him to train with me and he just collapsed half way through.

WGC: Do you want to mention the instructors name?

Steve: No, I don't think I should.

WGC: Cheers Steve. Thanks for taking the time to talk with me and good luck in your row.
