Introduction by WGC
Carol is the first person who has attempted the short course at ROKO Gillingham. Her time was for her a complete work out under strict conditions. She completed the Challenge - feeling well and comfortable. It was her bench mark time. It is now up to Carol and her devotion to training to improve on this. I sincerely hope that ROKO will provide the motivation and inspiration to encourage Carol to stick to her training plan. I was proud of Carol - she rose to the challenge and completed it with more courage then I have seen in a long while.

On X Training .....

WGC:You just recently  completed the Challenege – how did  you feel when you finished?

Carol : Fine (laughs) What I did find hard was the rower(300m)  Yeah, that was hard – it took the wind out of me that did. I had to stop for breath – but apart from that I quite enjoyed it.Carol It was different for me. A change, instead of 25 minutes on one thing, I did lots.

WGC. You said you found the rower quite tough. Do you use the rower often down here?

Carol: Yes I do. I quite like it. I normally do 5 minutes or a 1000 meters.

WGC :Are you comfortable with the rowing machine?

Carol: Yeah, I like it , its not too bad.

WGC: What did you enjoy most about the challenge?

Carol: I was pleased with my time. I did it less time then you thought I would (25mins) So I was pleased with that.

I am always pleased when I come away from the Gym, because I never want to come here. So I was pleased with doing the Challenge. It was something different.

WGC: Would you recommend the Challenge to your friends?

Carol: Yes. I don’t see why not. I think they would enjoy it

 Training.....

WGC: So how often do you manage to attend in a week

Carol: Normally three times a week

WGC : How long do you think it will take you to achieve what you want to.

Carol: (Laughs) … At the rate I am going at the moment! Probably around 70!Carol

WGC: It would be great to see you achieve what you want to.

Carol: I joined a Gym to get fit and lose weight. I wanted big results quickly and I didn't’t get it.

WGC: Personally Carol, I think slow results over a longer period of time are better for you. I think by attempting this Challenge you have shown great strength and character. Well done.

 
The Challenge......

WGC: Would you compete if the Gym organised a competition. The Challenge is designed at any level – in some case’s, just to give people a sense of accomplishment in others a testing endurance course.Carol

Carol: I would have to think very seriously about it. But I am not saying no.

WGC: When you come into a Gym, do you feel motivated, do you feel you have goals and aims

Carol: Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. It can be a struggle.

 Gym ......

WGC: Do you think that ROKO motivate you at all? Or is it left down to you? Do you think they take any responsibility to improve your fitness as you walk through the door?

Carol: No I wouldn't’t say so.

Carol on the step ups (3 risers)3 kg each hand x 20.

WGC: Are you saying it is left down to you as you walk through the door?

Carol: Yes.

WGC: What are your aims when you are here ? What do you want from the Gym

Carol: I want to lose weight. And I want to be fit. I have got health problems. Nothing Major, but I do have them. And I want to do what I can to alleviate them. I mean , I have arthritis in my knees. If I don’t come , then that gets worse. My Doctor recommended me to go to a Gym.

WGC: What is your favorite film

Carol: I haven’t actually got one. I like action movies. I liked Gladiator.

WGC: What about your favorite actor

Carol: I quite like Will Smith.

WGC: Do you listen to music much and what was the last CD you broughtCarol and her daughter Sarah

Carol: Not a great deal. I brought the Scissor Sisters latest Album. And I like Toni Braxton.

WGC : Who in the world right now would you like to meet.

Carol: Erm… George Bush. I d like to ask him why he is doing what he is doing. I am very much against that.

WGC: Carol, thank you very much. It’s been interesting. And Id like to thank you for being the first person to attempt the Short Course. I think you are a very determined person and it has been a pleasure talking to you. Thank you.
